Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short-story writer, poet, screenwriter, and wartime fighter pilot. He was born in Wales to Norwegian parents in 1916 and grew up in England. Dahl is known for his children's books, which include "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Matilda," and "The BFG." He also wrote several adult novels, such as "Switch Bitch" and "My Uncle Oswald." Apart from writing, Dahl was an experienced pilot in World War II, flying missions in North Africa and Greece. He passed away in 1990 at the age of 74 due to a blood disease. Dahl's work has been translated into almost 60 languages and adapted into numerous films, musicals, and stage plays.
